What is web design?
Web design is the look, structure, and behaviour of your website: the layout, colours, fonts, and how people move from page to page. When we say “web design,” we mean the whole thing: how it looks, how fast it loads, and how easy it is to use on a phone or a laptop.
Good web design isn’t just pretty. It’s clear. Visitors should find what they need without getting lost. Buttons and forms should work. The site should load quickly so people don’t give up and go elsewhere. And it should work on every device, because most of your visitors will be on their phone at least some of the time.

What we mean by…
We use a few terms a lot. Here’s what they mean in plain English.
Web development
This is the building part. We write the code that makes your site work: the pages, the forms, the links, and any special features (like a shop or a booking form). We use modern tools (like React and TypeScript) so the site is fast, secure, and easy to update. “Development” is the bit that turns a design into a real website you can use.
Responsive design
Your site has to work on phones, tablets, and desktops. Responsive design means one website that adapts to the screen size, so you don’t get a tiny desktop site on a phone or a stretched layout on a big monitor. We build every site to be responsive from day one. Most of your visitors will look at your site on their phone; we make sure it’s readable and easy to use there.
Performance (speed)
Performance means how fast your site loads and how smooth it feels when people click around. Slow sites lose visitors and rank worse in Google. We keep things fast by using efficient code, optimising images, and following good practices. We’ll also give you simple tips so the site stays quick after you take it over (for example, not uploading huge images).
Ongoing support
Once your site is live, you might want to change a bit of text, add a page, or fix something that’s broken. Ongoing support means we’re here for that. We can do ad-hoc updates, or you can take out a retainer for regular tweaks. We also look after things like security updates and backups so your site stays safe. You’re not left on your own after launch.
